Bio erosion control uses soft revetment practices to establish native vegetation
to support the slope. This vegetation holds the soil in place and grows stronger
year after year.
– Living Logs – Vegetated Coir Logs
– Breathable Coir Walls
Coir is the fiber layer that grows between the coconut and its outside husk. The fibers are graded by length and used for products like rugs, baskets, rope, and of course, the fibrous material inserted into our coir logs. This growing medium promotes soil retention, seed propagation, and root growth.
This system evolves instead of degrades. It utilizes vegetated coir logs and an erosion control blanket as soft armor to promote native vegetation. The coir log provides instant erosion control and vegetation. The vegetated coir log can be manufactured locally for specific sites, which provides advantages in aesthetic and erosion control. The erosion control blanket holds the seeds in place, protecting them and promoting germination.
– Instant vegetation and soil retention
– Root strength provides superior shear stress protection
– Scrubs out pesticides/fertilizers from the waterway
– Natural goose barrier
– Native vegetation means robust growth and less maintenance
– Attracts hummingbirds and butterflies
– Increases fishing potential
This system evolves instead of degrades. It uses vegetated and non-vegetated coir logs. Native plant plugs are often used with this system, promoting site specific species to establish themselves. This system allows water to freely flow through the log, while retaining the soil. This provides a perfect medium for plant growth, which will stabilize the eroded areas.
Invasive Species Management –
Invasive species invade and choke out native, natural vegetation. Our two main culprits are:
1) Bush Honeysuckle (Lonicera maackii)
These shrubs grow over six feet tall and shade out the surrounding vegetation in their area. In addition, they can release chemicals into the soil, effectively poisoning the area for other plant growth.
2) Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria)
These plants grow an average of five feet tall. They invade wetland areas and choke out the surrounding vegetation, resulting in a lack of food source for the animals that depend on the wetlands for survival.
We will provide a detailed proposal identifying the invasive species and the cost for removal.
This process involves vegetating an area and ensuring the survival of the wildflowers. There are three methods we use to accomplish this. It is common to use multiple methods during an installation to guarantee vegetation and continued growth. The methods are:
Hydro-seeding
This method uses a high pressure spray application process. The seed is mixed with
water and a mulch medium, creating a slurry which is shot out of a two-inch hose. This method is usually reserved for larger areas.
Plant Plugs
Plant plugs are pre-vegetated plant species we install for you. This provides instant aesthetics. You can customize your choice of plant species for optimal impact on your project.
Direct Seeding
This method embeds seed in the soil of an area. Common practices are hand broadcasting, seed drilling or raking and feathering.
Enhance your wildlife area with native bird trails. We can install and maintain boxes for bluebirds, tree swallows, wood ducks, endangered bats, as well as install water fowl nest tubes for ducks.

Rain Gardens / Bioswales
Enhance your property with rain gardens. A rain garden can reduce stormwater run-off,
and beautify your yard or community. Rain gardens also create healthy habitats for butterflies and hummingbirds.
Backyard Ponds and Wetlands
If you are interested in a water feature for your property, look no further. We custom design every water feature and are well versed in multi-tiered and aeration pond systems. If you want a striking Koi fish pond or cascading waterfall we can create it for you.
Liners
We design, build and maintain ponds of all sizes. We install liners of all types.
